How I work with you
Every engagement is different, but my working approach follows a consistent structure. I believe in being transparent about how I operate — so you know what to expect before we begin.
The working process
Initial consultation
The first conversation is free. Its purpose is straightforward: I want to understand your situation, your business and what you are trying to achieve. You want to understand whether I am the right person to help you.
There is no pressure and no obligation. If I do not believe I can add value, I will say so. If there is someone better placed to help you, I will tell you that too.
Understanding the context
Before making any recommendation, I take time to understand the commercial context, the people involved, the history of the situation and the risks — both obvious and hidden. Good HR advice depends on a thorough understanding of the business it serves.
This phase may involve reviewing documents, speaking with relevant individuals or spending time with the leadership team to understand the culture and dynamics at play.
Diagnosis and prioritisation
Once I have a clear picture, I identify what matters most and what the right sequence of actions should be. Not every problem needs to be solved at once. The most effective HR work is often about getting the priorities right.
I will give you a clear view of the situation as I see it — including the risks you may not have considered and the options available to you.
Recommended approach and proposal
I propose a clear approach, a scope of work and an engagement model. There are no hidden extras. Fees and scope are discussed openly and agreed before any work begins.
I do not publish fixed-price packages, because the right scope depends on your specific situation. After our initial conversations, I will propose something that reflects what you actually need.
Delivery and implementation
Once we have agreed the scope, I deliver. Practically, directly and personally. I work alongside your leadership team — not above them or in parallel to them. Every situation is handled with the care and rigour it deserves.
I am available to your leadership team throughout the engagement. Complex HR situations rarely unfold in a straight line, and I adapt as circumstances develop.
Review and continued support
At the end of the agreed scope, we review what has been achieved and what, if anything, remains. Some engagements conclude naturally. Others evolve into an ongoing retained partnership as the business's needs develop.
I do not push unnecessary continued engagement. If the situation has been resolved, the work is done. If there is value in continuing, we discuss it openly and agree the right terms.
A few things worth knowing before we speak
Confidentiality
Everything discussed with me is treated in strict confidence. I understand that the situations you bring to me are often commercially sensitive and personally difficult. Discretion is fundamental to how I work.
Fees and scope
I do not display prices on this website. Fees are agreed transparently after an initial consultation, based on the scope and complexity of the work. There are no hidden charges.
Response time
I aim to respond to all enquiries within 24–48 business hours. For urgent matters, please state this clearly in your message and I will prioritise accordingly.
Not a legal service
I provide expert HR guidance and support. This is not regulated legal advice. Where a matter requires employment law legal representation, I will tell you clearly and advise you to seek qualified legal counsel.
Ready to start the conversation?
The first step is a free initial consultation. No obligation. Just a straightforward conversation about your situation and whether I can help.
